Back when personal websites were a thing, this was mine. See that avatar on the left? That was 10 years ago, at least. Ah, memories.

I’m currently a technology columnist at the Wall Street Journal.

Before that I was the technology and science editor for the international business magazine Quartz.

Other places I’ve written for include Technology Review, BBC Future, The Atlantic, Wired, Scientific American, BBC Focus, Grist, Motherboard, Slate, Fast Company, Popular Science, Good, SmartPlanet, Discover, Nature, Nature Medicine, Txchnologist, Corporate Knights, Kellogg Insight, Glamour, Plenty, and the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions at Duke University.

I’ve been an editor at Scientific American, Technology Review, Smithsonian and Grist. I was also a producer at Small Mammal, where I helped director John Pavlus produce science videos for Slate, Popular Science and Nature.

In another life I was a crayfish neuroscientist specializing in functional and anatomical studies via Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
